Let’s adopt now and share our passion towards the conservation of these endangered species!
The plight of the orangutans, as an iconic species, has garnered widespread global attention and sympathy. This highly intelligent species, sharing approximately 97% of its DNA with humans, is endemic to Malaysia, where it is found exclusively in the states of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as to Indonesia. Recent studies estimate that approximately 15,000 orangutans reside in Sabah, while an additional 2,000 individuals have been recorded in Sarawak.
Orangutans are classified as critically endangered due to significant threats including habitat destruction, illegal hunting, and the wildlife trade.
