MPOGCF and Sime Darby Plantation collaborated in the rehabilitation of degraded peatlands within oil palm plantations, back to its natural functional ecosystem. The project is expected to become a peatland rehabilitation model for oil palm plantations companies that want to restore peatlands within their plantation landscape. This model is also suitable for academia and researcher to conduct research on rehabilitated peatland ecosystem. Ultimately this model will be beneficial to the biodiversity and ecosystem in the area. The collaboration signifies the Malaysian palm oil industry’s commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and to halt biodiversity loss.
