MPOGCF telah menyertai Bornean Elephant Conservation Symposium – ‘Strengthening Conservation Action: Challenges, Successes and the Way Forward’ dan Bornean Elephant Action Plan Mid-Term Review Workshop yang diadakan di Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu pada 9 sehingga 11 April 2025.
Persidangan itu telah dirasmikan Menteri Pelancongan, Kebudayaan dan Alam Sekitar Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew.
Kira-kira 100 peserta menghadiri program itu yang terdiri daripada kakitangan agensi kerajaan negeri antaranya Jabatan Hidupan Liar Sabah, Jabatan Perhutanan Sabah, wakil-wakil luar negara seperti Chiang Mai University (Thailand), Pairi Daiza Conservation (Belgium), Oregon Zoo (Amerika Syarikat), dan wakil-wakil industri seperti Sawit Kinabalu Sdn Bhd serta Sabah Softwood Sdn Bhd.
Sebanyak 20 kertas kerja telah dibentangkan berkenaan peranan dan pengalaman masing-masing dalam memulihara gajah Asia khususnya gajah Borneo.
MPOGCF turut membentangkan usaha-usaha konservasi gajah Borneo bagi mewakili industri sawit Malaysia. Pembentangan telah dibuat oleh Eksekutif Konservasi & Kemampanan MPOGCF, Daniel Pamin.
Persidangan yang dianjurkan oleh Jabatan Hidupan Liar Sabah itu memberi fokus berkenaan Pelan Tindakan Gajah Borneo Negeri Sabah termasuk cadangan-cadangan penambahbaikan bagi meningkatkan lagi keberkesanan pelan tindakan itu.
Seramai lima kakitangan MPOGCF telah menyertai persidangan ini diketuai oleh Pengurus Besar MPOGCF, Hairulazim Mahmud serta Eksekutif Konservasi & Kemampanan, Zalifah Ramli dan Nur Fatin Amirah dan pelatih industri, Muhammad Ashraf Aman.

MPOGCF recently took part in the Bornean Elephant Conservation Symposium, themed “Strengthening Conservation Action: Challenges, Successes and the Way Forward”, as well as the Mid-Term Review Workshop for the Bornean Elephant Action Plan, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu, from 9 to 11 April 2025.
The event was officially launched by Sabah’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew.
Approximately 100 participants attended, including representatives from various state government agencies such as the Sabah Wildlife Department and Sabah Forestry Department. International organisations were also present, including Chiang Mai University (Thailand), Pairi Daiza Conservation (Belgium), and the Oregon Zoo (USA), along with industry players like Sawit Kinabalu Sdn Bhd and Sabah Softwood Sdn Bhd.
The symposium featured 20 paper presentations, each showcasing the unique roles and experiences of participating organisations in conserving Asian elephants, with a special focus on the Bornean elephant.
As a representative of Malaysia’s palm oil industry, MPOGCF was given the opportunity to share its conservation efforts through a presentation delivered by Daniel Pamin, Executive of Conservation & Sustainability.
Organised by the Sabah Wildlife Department, the symposium also focused on reviewing the Sabah State Bornean Elephant Action Plan, with discussions centered on proposed improvements to enhance the plan’s effectiveness moving forward.
MPOGCF’s delegation comprised five team members, led by General Manager Mr. Hairulazim Mahmud, together with Conservation & Sustainability Executives Ms. Zalifah Ramli and Ms. Nur Fatin Amirah, along with industrial trainee Muhammad Ashraf Aman.
